#TMXCareerLove – Share Your Story

As a 31-year-old wife and mother, I have always struggled with finding that perfect balance of having a career that would allow me time with my family. I love how this Company has given me that perfect balance that allows me to enjoy building my career while still maintaining my home life. Being the wife of a first responder has its own set of challenges, but ones that have taught me to take each day as a blessing and to enjoy every day with no regrets. My son is by far my greatest accomplishment and my biggest blessing. So, it …

Black History Month 2021: Celebrating the History and Culture Series

Black History Month is an annual event honoring the many vital contributions of Black Americans, something the TMX Finance® Family of Companies is proud to celebrate. What started as “Negro History Week” in 1926, observed on the second week in February to honor Abraham Lincoln’s and Frederick Douglass’ birthdays, has turned into a month-long devotion to celebrating Black Americans. We honor diversity through celebrating the heritage and traditions of our Team Members. In turn, we leverage cultural holidays like Black History Month to inspire Team Members to learn more about the history, themselves, and their Team Members. To honor the …

My Native American Roots

My Native American Roots

Growing up, I was raised to be proud of my Native American roots and Comanche runs deep on my mother’s side of the family. In 1977, I had the opportunity to meet my great-grandmother who spoke mainly her native language with a little Spanish; she was 104 at that time. With the help of my grandfather, he was able to translate the fascinating stories of her childhood and how she lived. It was like stepping back in time and being educated without the history books. This is a memory I will always treasure.  A few years ago, through modern technology, …

When Hollywood Learned to Speak Different Languages

When Hollywood Learned to Speak Different Languages

Enrique Gonzalez serves as an expert movie critic and writes a weekly column for a local Hispanic news publication in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to his role as a General Manager at TMX Finance® Family of Companies, he has been a local radio and television personality, movie promoter, and most recently, a podcast host. At the beginning of the industrial film era most productions did not have audio. In 1920, the silent cinema was a universal cinema, so the nationality of the actors did not matter nor their voices. Really, the quality Hollywood was seeking were faces that looked good …

Beyond Proud

Beyond Proud

I learned early on, from growing up Hispanic, that family is the most important part of our culture.  Life brings many uncertainties and in a world of constant change, family is the one constant I will always have. Both my parents were born in Mexico and have passed down many elements of our culture and heritage but placed the most importance on family.  I am from a small border town in Sonora/Arizona called Nogales.  I lived on the Mexican side of the border up until I graduated from middle school and then moved to the American side to finish high …

10 Ways to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

10 Ways to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Diversity in thought, background, and culture has always been one of the driving forces behind our success at the TMX Finance® Family of Companies. That’s why we’re proud to honor the unique contributions and individual achievements of our Hispanic and Latinx Team Members during Hispanic Heritage Month. This month, celebrated in the U.S. on September 15th through October 15th, pays tribute to the contributions and influence of the Hispanic and Latinx communities. Lyndon B. Johnson declared National Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 and it was later expanded into a 30-day period by Ronald Reagan in 1988. With Hispanic and Latinx …
